As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to honor some our team members in the Greenville market who have made, and continue to make, a difference in our ministry. Because of the following individuals, their dedication and their talents, Bon Secours St. Francis is a remarkable institution.
Jessica Gonzalez Hernandez, MD, Bon Secours Carolina Surgical
As a board-certified general surgeon with a subspecialty in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Jessica Gonzalez Hernandez (pictured above, second from left) is committed to giving her community the compassionate care they deserve. She aims to provide the most advanced and least invasive procedures with the intent of less scarring, minimal pain and faster recovery times. Dr. Hernandez is passionate about obesity and has helped many patients improve their quality of life, overall health and life expectancy.
Fiesky Nunez, MD, Bon Secours Piedmont Orthopaedics
Dr. Fiesky Nunez (pictured above, second from right) and his wife Olivia are proud members of the Greenville community who look forward to seeing their children grow up here. Dr. Nunez is an orthopedist who strives to treat his patients with the respect, attention, time and detail that he would for his own family members. As a hand surgeon, he has the pleasure of helping people improve their life and relieve their pain from arthritis, fractures, sprains and many wear-and-tear conditions that afflict the hand, wrist and elbow.
Dary Osorio, Certified Health Care Interpreter™
Dary Osorio (pictured above, far right) serves as an interpreter for our health system. In fact, she was the designated interpreter for the St. Francis Cancer Center just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a cancer survivor herself and has a heart for those who are vulnerable and unable to communicate with their providers due to language barriers. Dary truly embodies our mission by going above and beyond to ensure that our Hispanic patients feel cared for throughout their cancer journey.
Bonnie Talty, Bilingual Community Wellness Social Work Navigator
Bonnie (pictured above, far left) plays a pivotal role in providing care for the Hispanic population of Greenville. She is a dedicated team member who helps those that enter the doors of San Sebastian, a large Catholic Church serving more than 1,000 Hispanic families, many of who are immigrants. Her attention to detail and advocacy ensures every client is treated with dignity and respect. She helps people navigate through the health care system despite language barriers. While a great part of her ministry focuses on the Hispanic community, she is here for all.
Catalina Ramirez Moreno, Medical Assistant
Catalina (pictured above, center) has served as a medical assistant with Upstate Cardiology since 2009. She is often identified by patients for her kindness and compassion. She is also recognized by providers and teammates for always going the extra mile and for always being available to help others with their work. Because of all this, her contributions to our ministry have been significant.
