Last month, Blair and Kirsten Miller got to do something they’ve been eagerly waiting for months: they both received their COVID-19 vaccines! In fact, their visit to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC, was captured by our team members (see above).

“My wife and I were lucky enough to receive our COVID-19 vaccines together. The moment was surreal, historical and emotional. It’s a significant step back to normality and being able to satisfy our need for connection again.
Our family has young kids, ages nine and 11. We realize much of their memories are now grounded in a pandemic. Getting an opportunity to receive a vaccine that can bring people back together was something we’ve been excited about for months.
Getting our shots was easy – your staff was wonderful and attentive. We were in and out in 30 minutes. We’ve not felt any side effects beyond a little arm soreness, but that’s such a minimal tradeoff for everything we now gain… hugging our elders and at-risk family, friends and colleagues.
Our sincere hope is that more people will depoliticize vaccines, believe in the bright minds that brought us this answer and take a step back to the special things we have missed. Personally, our relatively young and healthy family didn’t get the vaccine for us. We got it for those who need protecting. Both Kristen and I believe this is an opportunity to be selfless for others, which is a human responsibility for our huge tribe.
We sincerely appreciate what our medical community has done this last year. I’m ready for the day when we’re feeling good enough to argue over the Carolina-Clemson game, not COVID-19.
Also, the marriage that vaccinates together, stays together, I suppose!”
