As a ministry, we celebrate the opportunity to work with Project SEARCH participants and share our Mission with them.
This innovative internship program works to train students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to learn job skills and help them obtain competitive employment in their community by the end of the program.
Jerrod, pictured above with members of our engineering team, is a Project SEARCH intern at the Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. Jerrod was the first intern that our engineering team hosted, and everyone shares that it’s been a rewarding experience.
The entire engineering team as well as family, friends and hospital leadership recently attended an event that celebrated how the work of these interns impacts not only our hospital but also the community we serve. Everyone shared that to see and feel the love between Jerrod and the team was amazing.
One special attendee was Jerrod’s father. When Jerrod’s father found out he wrote his presentation without help, he was at a loss for words and was brought to tears. Jerrod’s father expressed he didn’t realize how much his son got to do each day. He was impressed at how integrated and involved this program was.
“I felt so comforted and reassured that my son will be OK and strongly prepared to work on his own because of the genuine investment from this entire team through this program,” Jarrod’s father adds. “This experience will have a lasting impact on my son and our family.”
